There are many things you can do to produce content that have a direct relationship your blog, and you should consider pursuing them. However, keep in mind, nothing will turn a blog into a success like high quality content.
Good content creates a readership. Those repeat visitors can be the lifeblood of a successful blog. Additionally, other people who operate blogs notice good content and web sites and they will often link back to your quality posts. This creates a direct traffic stream from those links, as well as adding to your total cache of backlinks, which can help in search engine results.
People will come back to a site they know provides quality information or that touches them in some manner. Humor sites that are not funny do not get repeat visitors. Sites about technological advances that contain inaccuracies do not develop a readership. Blogs that are littered with grammatical and spelling errors seldom generate massive traffic.
Effective writing is key to a successful blog. It is beyond the scope of this article to outline what makes a writer entertaining or informative. Most of us, fortunately, have an idea of what separates the good from the bad. Writing effectively may take more time and effort than simply spewing forth a couple of posts to your blog, but the end result is worth the extra energy.
As well as writing great content, you should strive to produce unique content that will distinguish your blog from others. This includes choosing topics that are interesting, opinions that are compelling, and doing whatever else is necessary to capture and hold a reader’s interest. You need to give people a reason to choose your blog over the hundreds or thousands of others in the same field. You must provide them with something they cannot get elsewhere.
This raises the subject of re-blogging. Re-blogging occurs when a blogger provides a synopsis of what someone else has written (perhaps even with an excerpt) and then adds a small amount of personal commentary. Re-blogging can be effective in two circumstances. If your blog is operating primarily as a news aggregator and a means of providing readers with an edited collection of potential items of interest, it is a natural fit. Second, if your commentary somehow illuminates or provides an interesting twist to the original content it can also be effective. Too often, however, reblogging is nothing more than repetition of what could be found elsewhere and fails to impress readers.
Instead of relying upon re-blogging, a successful blogger will generally try to stay on top of his or her chosen field and will become the initial source of exciting information and opinion. It is fine to share the remarkable work of others–making sure that information gets out to everyone is one of the great things you can do with a blog–but it is even better if you can make yourself into a primary source of quality, unique content.

Blogs that tackle a particular and focused range of concerns more often than not, outdraw those with a less focused approach. Blogging within a specific niche is generally the most beneficial way to achieve success. That being said, there are limits to specificity. If one chooses a subject field that is too limited, the potential for high-volume traffic is significantly reduced. Conversely, if one chooses to blog in a well-covered subject area they risk getting lost in the mix and not able to find a regular readership.
There is no secret formula that will yield the perfect niche for your blog. There are, however, some guidelines you are able to follow when selecting a blog topic that will help lead you to a choice that has good traffic potential.
First, remember that you will be revisiting, updating, tweaking and researching the topic of your blog for as long as you decide to maintain it. Thus, it makes a good deal of sense to choose a subject that you have a keen interest in and a developed knowledge base. You may discover that there are a circle of people searching information on widgets and that there are few great sources for that information online. However, if you don’t know a lot about widgets and find them a complete bore, you will probably have a hard time maintaining the site over the long haul.
Second, remember that there are two different factors you must consider when trying to choose a topic with real traffic potential. You will want to write about something in which others are interested. There must be a group of people out there who are regularly looking for information on your topic. This is a necessary factor. However, you must also consider how many other sources of information are out there already. It can be very tough to break into a competitive field.
You will be able to get an idea of the competition and interest levels by using any number of freely available online tools. One resource I have found to be invaluable and easy to use is WebCEO.
Ideally, you will find a hot topic with little competition. All the same, it is far easier said than done! You could spend days submitting potential subjects into Nichebot without finding a wildly underserved group of searchers for a subject in which you have an interest. Nonetheless, it does do a great job of letting you know what you might be up against in terms of competition and occasionally you can discover some very interesting gaps in the information market.
Third, remember that although finding an underserved niche will make your life easier, it is not necessarily a requirement for success. There are some people who will tell you that operating in a competitive sector is great. After all, you know in advance that there are hordes of potential visitors on a hot topic. All you have to do is give them a reason to come to you as an alternative to the out there. Once again it is, certainly, easier said than done. Still, if you are up for a challenge and believe you can offer something that will truly separate you from the rest; you should consider blogging in a competitive field. The rewards can be phenomenal.

There are hundreds, if not thousands, of advertising resources on the web today. Some you can write a post for and forget about until the calls start coming in and others you have to actively work at and promote yourself in order to see the return. Some of the resources you could tap into are listed below.
• Forums – These are usually free to post on if you are a member. They are great resources to meet people and connect with customers who are looking for products similar to yours. Some also allow limited advertisements in the signatures. The Warriors Forum is among the best.
• Craigslist – Craigslist has become a standard go-to for almost any individual looking for a product or service. It is also a free resource for people needing to advertise.
• Social Networking Sites – From Facebook to Twitter and many in between, social networking is a growing phenomenon taking over the lines of communication. More people are connecting on social networking sites than almost any other way imaginable. Once connected, it is a free resource for people to advertise their products to other like minded people.
• Email – This is a widely overlooked tool. Email is everywhere. We use it every day and yet almost no one thinks to advertise in the signature box on an email. If you have a new product or service, make sure you include a link to your website or blog. Think of how many people you send email to who don’t get a chance to look at your web page or blog. Well, now they can.
Advertising resources are everywhere. These are only a few suggestions. Any search on free advertising resources will provide numerous results, which are all decent options. The best tip is to read reviews on them and ask people questions to see which ones have given them the most success with the fewest problems. Since they are free, try them out yourself. If they don’t work, you haven’t lost anything, just pack it up and go somewhere else.

In order to have a profitable membership site for the long-term, you need to be able to keep the current members you have and be able to convince people to become members to your membership site. If you cannot achieve both of these goals, you will not succeed in gaining the profits and credibility you are seeking from maintaining your own membership site. Well then, how do you go about doing that?
One good and effective way to help you achieve both goals is to provide your current members with products that have giveaway rights. These products can be given away to other people for free.
By enabling current members to embed their affiliate links inside the ebooks, they’ll be much more willing to give the ebooks to their friends and associates. Those friends and associates will see the description and link to your site, and presuming you are providing good value to your current members, will likely subscribe to your membership site as well.
By offering your current members a percentage of the recurring membership fee, this will allow your current members to add another income stream, and a residual one at that, to their businesses, they will be much more likely to pass along the ebooks to people they know and to their own subscribers. In turn, you will gain more subscribers who will stay with you long-term and give you those profits and credibility you are seeking from maintaining your own membership site.

Customer retention marketing or relationship marketing is about creating an impression that is favorable enough that the customers think of your business first. That means offering them something that goes beyond what they would normally receive. It does not have to be much. You do not have to provide the world. It is amazing how a little can go a long way.
Offer exceptional customer service. You do this by training your employees to be able to handle customer concerns. Teach and train your employees and yourself in the ways of positive and productive communication.
Offering a money back guarantee to your customers also helps you establish a trusting relationship. Please, don’t skimp on this. If you have a money back guarantee of, say, 30 or 60 days, people are going to be more willing to try your product, because they know they can return it for a full refund should they not like it. And absolutely honor that money back guarantee. The Internet is great for what it can do, but it’s also going to burn you if you don’t do your job right. Word gets out very fast that you’re not to be trusted if you don’t do what you say you are going to do.
Everyone likes getting the royal treatment, especially new customers. When you can, find a way to add value to their purchase. Offer more information on how to use a product, coupon for the next purchase or have a great day! It does not have to be a huge gesture just something that says you appreciate their business. You can sometimes add value by not selling something. Sounds counterintuitive but, if a customer is asking for something they truly do not need and you save them money you will have a lifelong customer.

Think Ahead
To maintain a profitable membership site, it’s important that you add fresh, new content to your membership site regularly (at least once a month, if not more often). However, it’s sometimes hard to come up with new, pertinent information that your site’s members will find valuable and worth downloading and/or reading. However, you need to adhere to a strict schedule of delivering fresh, new content on a regular basis if you want to gain the profitability and reputation that comes from having a successful membership site for the long-term.
An easier way to continuously provide new, fresh content on a regular basis is to think ahead and plan on what new information you’ll provide ahead of time. It would certainly help if you keep constant tabs on what is developing in your niche’s industry from day to day or, at least, week to week. This way, you’ll likely find pertinent information or create new, quality products that your site’s members will find useful and valuable.
This is better than having to try to come up with some type of pertinent, fresh content at the very last minute (i.e. the last day of the month and you haven’t changed the site at all since the last updates you did a month earlier). Your site’s members will realize if you just haphazardly put something together just to provide something “new.” It’s likely many of your site’s members will be turned off by this and will consider dropping their memberships, especially if you wait until the last minute and provide information that can essentially be found for free online.

Creating an online business then creating the necessary presence does not have to cost a small fortune. Most small business owners have several means available to them that will not require a lot of cash. You say *no way*, I say *oh yeah, WAY*. Here are just a couple of the ways anyone can become a do-it-yourself marketer.
The first tip – and the most important – is to get your site noticed. Depending on where you are starting from this statement may sound harder than it is, or easier than it is. Either way, to accomplish this you must register your site with the many search engines on the net. You should focus on the big guys like Google and Yahoo since they are the main search engines and account for more than 90% of all search traffic. The name of the game here is to first, get your site recognized by the SE’s, then start the process of moving toward that coveted #1 position , providing your site with maximum exposure. There are any number of *marketers* out there that will want to *help* you get that #1 spot over night, or in 24 hours, etc. Most do it by selling you a package that includes your link in a rotator of other sponsors who have paid just like you. These tips are intended to save you money and guide you to tried, tested and trusted resources. There is no one on the net better than Xtream Global Marketing.
The next step is to start using reciprocal links with other businesses in a similar niche as yours. This can be done by simply emailing the site owner and asking them if they would mind linking your site and vice versa. You could easily create a banner with the many free online tools and place this on your partner’s site. Free advertising at its best.
Another popular way along the same line, is affiliate marketing. This works when your affiliate partner places your link on their site and when a potential customer clicks and either signs up or buys something from your site, the affiliate gets a percentage of the profits. Sites such as Amazon.com use affiliate marketing to bring in the traffic to their site.
Perhaps the easiest way to market your site is simply by placing your link in everything, I mean absolutely everything you do on the web. If you send out email, make sure a link to your site is in your signature line, if you respond on a message board or forum; make sure there is a link to your site in your response.

A profitable membership site involves having members of that site being interested in the information and resources contained within the site. Otherwise, they won’t have interest in coming back to the site repeatedly, which will lead to them canceling their memberships, and as a result, your site’s profitability and long-term outlook will decline.
One important aspect of a successful membership site is to have the members of the membership site feel connected, much like a community. One way you can help to make them feel more connected is to have your own forum within the membership site. Inside the forum, members can communicate with each other and with you on topics and problems related to the main topic of the membership site. Not only will this help people to feel more interconnected with each other (and lead to potential business opportunities, such as joint ventures and affiliate partnerships), but it will also enable you to enhance your reputation as an expert in the industry by providing advice and information inside the forum.
Additionally, it will be seen as valuable by the forum members because it is a members-only forum – only current members in good standing can have access to the privileged information contained within the forum. That value can go a long way to keeping members maintaining their memberships and coming back to the forum on a regular basis.

Whoever said “anything with two heads is a monster,” obviously didn’t know anything about partnerships. Getting a group of people together in a collaborative effort can be beneficial to all parties involved – as long as you remember why you came together in the first place. A collaboration pulls the best talents of each person, throws them together in a blender and pours out a delicious end product for all to enjoy. Here are some things that can be shared between two, or more, in a web-based setting.
• Communities – Each person has the ability to introduce others to their friends; double the readers, double the fun.
• Link love – Go ahead; it’s OK to show a little love. Trading links back and forth can open the passage ways between niches and help people realize their enjoyment for other types of tasks or products.
• Guest posting – Share the workload, this will also aid in reducing burnout.
• Brainstorming – Let the creative juices start flowing. When people start throwing ideas around the sky really is the limit. Questions start popping up like, “Why can’t we do this project?” or “What if we tried this instead?” The new doors that open might just be the next big thing to hit the market.
• Motivation – When one is down, pick him up and keep on moving. Help each other fight off fatigue and the work-related blues by taking 5 minutes and putting together a goofy project or going out to get a bite to eat, just do something to break the monotony and anything is better than working alone.
Partnerships share the best traits of all people involved. Just think about it. You might be the best web designer out there but can’t compose SEO articles to save the Queen. No worries, John can write SEO in his sleep but can’t design or shoot video. Pam has done some serious video editing for National Geographic in the last 6 months. Pull everyone together to work on a project, share ideas, talents and come up with a finished project to pass around to demonstrate pure brilliance. Not only do you get credit for your portion, you have people knocking down your door to get their latest project in your team’s lap.

The fact that the global economy is struggling is evident. The evidence is all around you:
- Companies filing for bankruptcy and Chapter 11 protection
- Massive layoffs by companies in an effort to stay afloat and profitable
- Holiday parties being scaled-back or eliminated all together to reduce costs
- Consumers spending less on shopping and on non-essential items
- Consumers travelling less, affecting the airline industries
- etc.
In this global economy, it is very difficult to get people to purchase your products and services. It’s especially difficult to get new people to purchase your products and services. That’s why it’s vital you build up a loyal customer base who is willing to do business with you time and again, because of the quality of your products and customer service.
It’s always easier to convince customers who have purchased from you before to purchase from you again than to have someone who has no idea who you are and what your company is about to purchase from you. Even if you can get new customers to purchase from you (and you should still try, of course), it will cost much more to convince them to purchase from you than to convince those who have purchased from you before and were happy with their purchases.
Especially in this struggling economy, it’s beneficial for your business to get repeat business without having to spend a lot of time and/or money in convincing them that they should purchase your products/services. Having a loyal customer base in this economy can make the task of surviving and thriving in this economy much easier for your business to achieve.
